Get Organized Month!

After the whirlwind of the holidays, the new year often sparks an irresistible urge to declutter and reclaim control over our living spaces. There is optimism for a more organized, efficient lifestyle and the hope of health and happiness. It’s easy to see why January is designated as Get Organized Month or GO Month, by the National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals (NAPO).

As you begin this journey to streamline your surroundings, start by identifying items that no longer serve a purpose in your life. Gather these items in a bag and consider donating them to local charities or Goodwill. This initial purge will unveil the true scope of your organizational needs.

Once you’ve pared down your belongings, contemplate incorporating some organizational tools to optimize and transform your space. Remember, instilling a sense of organization at home also doubles as a valuable example for the kiddos in your home!

Below are some ideas, gadgets and organizing products that can facilitate a seamless transition to an organized haven:

Water Bottle Storage

Storing water bottles upright can lead to chaos in cabinets—toppling bottles and obscured visibility. Consider storing the bottles horizontally on the shelf of an upper cabinet, simplifying selection and retrieval. To enhance the storage, opt for a specialized water bottle organizer. Also by switching to horizontal storage, you may be able to lower the shelf above the water bottles, providing you better accessibility of those items on that shelf.

Wine Bottle Storage

Enhance your decor while efficiently storing wine bottles in a wine rack. Strategically place the rack in the corner on your kitchen countertop, on an entertainment center, or on a buffet to seamlessly blend functionality with aesthetics. Additionally, for refrigerated wine storage, consider single clear plastic stackable wine bottle holders, or this multi-level bottle organizer, originally designed for water bottles—ideal for maximizing fridge space.

Battery Organization

The holidays bring an influx of electronic gifts, heightening the need for battery organization. This battery organizer with tester, holds up to 110 batteries – place it in a drawer, container, or hang it on the wall. No matter where you store your batteries, be sure to have a battery tester to create a complete battery center.

Drawer Doubler

Utilize space more efficiently in a kitchen, desk, or bathroom drawer by employing a “Drawer Doubler.” This innovative tool creates dual tiers by expanding to fit on the edge of the drawer sides, optimizing storage for smaller items up top while freeing up valuable space underneath for larger essentials like papers, stapler, or hairbrushes.

Handbag Organization

Maximize vertical space in on your closet shelf with an acrylic 3-compartment organizer. Nestle smaller handbags and clutches within the compartments. Then, take advantage of the top of the organizer by placing a larger handbag.

The Power of Labels

After tackling an area, label containers and shelves to help insure lasting organization. Labeling streamlines item retrieval and return to the designated place, by all family members. If making labels seems like a hassle, consider using preprinted labels – they’re inexpensive and lovely! You can purchase by various categories such as “Household & Laundry,” “Craft & Playroom,” “Pantry.” These clear labels are offered 150+ to a pack, in your choice of white or black print.

Also, label your mobile phone accessories such as power adapters, cords, and AirPods. Labeling avoids the mix up of ownership among family members and friends. For the end of a cord, place a label with just your initials – that’s all that will fit. For a power adapter or AirPod case, print a label with your name and mobile number – if you lose either, the finder will know how to contact you. If you’re ordering new AirPods, have your telephone number engraved on the case.

Happy Organizing!

As you embark on this journey toward an organized lifestyle, remember that the essence of organization lies not only in tidiness but also in the ease and functionality it brings to everyday life. With better function, you will have more time to spend on what is most important.
