We followed our
STACKS method by selecting an area, planning the time, and dividing the project
into achievable segments. Our next step was purging, grouping like items
together, and sorting the boy’s clothes by ownership. After this
was completed, we had what was left to organize.
We removed the original furniture in the room (except
for a built in bookcase) and replaced it with
multifunctional furniture.
The multifunctional furniture allowed us to maximize the space in the room, giving us
the ability to put in two desks (which not even one would fit before).
We selected a
closet organizing system
that was adjustable to fit the boys’ clothing as they grew. We
added more shelves to the closet. We used
clear plastic drawer
organizers to maximize the space in the drawers. These organizers
also made for easy retrieval and return of items.
We added
comforters and sheets especially
designed for bunk beds to give ease in bed making. We selected a jungle
theme fabric for the bedding and
window treatment. This made the
transition fun for the boys.
Our last step was taking a look at
the entire bedroom to see if it met our goals and to do any last minute
tweaking.
